Obamacare refersto theAffordable carehealthAct that wasproposedby presidentObama intendedto reformhealthcare in theUS. Themainaimof theaffordable careis to offerallUS citizenswith inexpensivehealthcareinsurance,regulationthehealthcare insurancein thecountry,improvinghealthcare forallpeopleandhealthinsuranceandeasetheburdenof healthcare in theUS(Tate, 2012).

Thoughtheaffordable Act and Patient Protection Act wasassentedby President andallcreditgivento him, thetruthis thatthehealthcareAct was anoutcomeofthe contributionfrom bothsidesof congressandthehealthcare stakeholders in thecountry.In fact,theAffordable Act is formulatedis thesamewayas theRomney Act,which denotesthehealthcare reformsthat Governor Romney introducedin thestateof Massachusetts (Obama Care Facts, 2013). TheAffordable Healthcare Act containsreformsto thehealthcare industryandinsurancein a bidto arresttherisingcostsof healthcare in theUnited States. TheActs alsoseeksto offeraffordable coverage forallAmericans. ThoughtheAffordable Healthcare Act is voluminous thecrucialreformsare foundin thefirst140 pagesof theLaw.

Priorto thepassageof theAffordable Healthcare Act Americans could be deniedinsurancecoverage ormedicalcarebecauseof droppingat themiddleof thetreatment,chronic past illness and ifthe patientis a woman,becauseof simpleerroriffillingoftheapplicationforms.Additionally, thepatienthadlittleornopowerto fighttheinsurancefirm. InevitablymanyAmericans could not getmedicalcoverage eventhoughtheywereinsured.With thepassing of theAffordable Healthcare Act allUS citizenshaveaccessto a widerangeof unparalleledprotections,benefitsandrights(Tate,2012).Bytheendof theyear 2013 morethat44 million uncoveredAmericans, accounting for16% of thepopulationhada healthcare insurancecoverage. One wayof increasingthelevel of coverage is throughrevisingtheeligibilityof Medicaid program.TheAffordable Healthcare Act expandedMedicaid eligibilityandprovidedcostaidvia healthinsurancemarketplaces. Additionally thenewhealthbenefitsandpreventiveservicesare not putof pocket,compulsoryinsuranceforpre-existing conditionandeliminationofthe yearlylimitare allbeganoperationin 2014 (Tate, 2012).

TheNew Health Care Law

Obamahealthcare planaccordshardworking, middleincomehouseholdsthecoverage theyneedandtheycan afford.TheHealth careplancoercesinsurancefirms to runby thesetrules,barringthem from discriminatingagainst anyAmerican regardlesstheexistinghealthcondition,prohibitingthem from droppingan individual’scoverage whentheygetsick,bulling Americans from bankruptcyemanatingfrom sicknessorinjury(Government of the United States of America, 2013).Thanksto thehealthcare Act Americans donot haveto be troubledabout losingtheir insurancecoverage ifandwhentheychangejobsorwhentheyare maderedundant. Allinsurancefirms are compelledby theAct to coverforthepreventivehealthcare of allindividualsincludingcancerscreening andmammograms. Theimpactsof thehealthcareAct since itbecamelawhas beentremendous,especiallyon strengtheningandexpandingMedicare program.Currently about 50 million Senior Americans rely on Medicare fortheir healthcareneeds.TheObama healthcare Act strengthensMedicare by makingsignificantimprovements.Keyamong them is extendingthelifeof Medicare Trust Fund by eight years,lowercost,fightagainst fraudandnewbenefits.Since theenactmentof theAffordable Healthcare Act Medicare costsgrowthhas reduced,Medicare advantageenrollmenthas rose by 17% whereastheaveragepremiumshavereducedby 16%. TheAct has significantly loweredthecostof prescriptiondrugsin theMedicare program(Governmentof the United States of America, 2013).By theendof the2011, one yearafter thepassageof thebillinto Act, 5.1 million seniorAmericans andAmericans with disabilitiesunder theMedicare plan,wereableto saveapproximately$5.1 million on medicine.New preventative benefitsfortheseniorsunder theMedicare programhaveenabledseniorsto accesscancerscreening since theycan affordit.TheAct helpspreventandstopfraudwith tougherscreening methods,heftierpenaltiesandapplicationof newtechnology. Anti-fraud effortsmanagedto recuperate$4.1 billion in theyear2011. Thevaluebased purchasingplanintroducedby theObama Healthcare Act has contributedto theimprovementof qualityof healthcare in thecountry.Theprogramshall startpaying3,500 hospitalsaround thenationbased on thequalityof healthcare deliveredto patients(HealthPolicy Center, 2012).Priorto theObama healthcare Act, thispaymentwasbased on Quantity of servicesofferedmeaningpatientswould receivemediocreserviceswhilethehospitalscontinuedto receivecolossalsumsof moneyfrom thefederalgovernment.Moreover,thevalue-based paymentplanswhenintegratedintootherMedial programssuchas Medicare its expectedthatitwillhelpreducepreventable injuryto patients.Thecooperation between theprivateandthepublicstakeholders in thehealthindustry,supportedby theInnovation Center is streamlined to makea majorreductionin mortalityandpreventable ailments,connectedto staysat hospitals(HealthPolicy Center, 2012).

ObamaCare

Obamacarehas broughtexceptionalfocuson thevaluesof investingin healthcare programs.Obama governmentis workingto assistAmericans leada healthierlife,through thePublic Health Fund andNational Prevention Strategy. ThroughtheAffordable healthAct theUS governmentshall allocate$500 million to supportandsustainhealthcare activitiessuchas developmentof publichealthfacilitiesandanothercommunitytailored initiativesmeantto preventillnessanddisease,In theyear2011 thanksto theObama healthcareprogram,theUS governmentinvested$750 million in enlarging preventionschemessuchas clinical prevention,developmentof tracking andresearchinfrastructure.By theendof 2012 $1 billion of thePrevention Fund wasreleasedto supportcommunitybased effortsto arrestchronicdisease,localandstateplansandsupporthealthinfrastructure(Obama Care Facts. 2013).

Asa productof theinvestment,madepossibleby theObama healthcare program,(the Affordable Care Act andRecovery Act) thedearthof clinicians andphysiciansin underserved localitieshas tremendouslyincreased.TheNational Health Service Corps, a programthrough which clinicians practiceunderserved areashas tripled in a spanof three yearsafter theenactmentof theActs. ThehealthcareAct has alsopromotedcommunityhealthcentersallaround thecountryin providingprimaryandpreventative healthcare, especiallyin economically distraughtcommunities(Obama Care Facts, 2013). Morethan 18,600 positionshavebeencreatedin communityhealthcenters,improvingtheir capacityto servemorepatients.

IndividualPurchase Mandate

Theaffordable careandthePatient Protection Acthas facedmassivecriticismfrom differentquartersthat feelthatthe lawinfringeson fundamentalcitizenrightsandviolatestheAmerican constitution.Themostcontroversialpartis theclausethat makesitmandatoryforallAmericans to acquiresomeformof coverage,otherwisetheywould bepenalized.Fromthebeginningof 2014, theAct is fearedto imposeheavyburdenson youngAmerican workers,micro andsmallbusinessandotherAmericans whoopt not to purchasethedearhealthcoverage, a rulingby a federaljudgein 2010 declaredtheclausethat requiresAmerican to carryinsuranceorfacepenaltyas unconstitutional(Smith, 2010).TheAct has alsofacedimmensecriticismfrom theAssociation of American Physicians andSurgeons whohighlighted thatthehealthcare planis likelyto augmentthetotalcostof healthcare forAmerican citizensandconsequently lowerthequalityof carethata laissez faire marketwould offer.Thoughmostof theprovisionis takingeffectfrom thisyeartheoppositionwagedby somestatessuchas Michigan andVirginia are likelyto affecttheexecutionof Obamacare andrealizationof theintendedobjectives(Smith,2010).

Thekeyobjectiveof Obamacare is to provideallUS citizenswith inexpensivehealthcareinsurance,regulationthehealthcare insurancein thecountry,improvinghealthcare forallpeopleandhealthinsuranceandeasetheburdenof healthcare in theUS.TheObama healthcare planhas significantly increasedthehealthcare insurance.Theplanhas alsoincreasedthesharingof healthriskthrough a combinationof programsthat havesubstantiallyincreasedaccessto qualityandaffordable healthcare, especiallyto individualswhoare havethehighesthealthcare needs.TheObama healthcare programwillgoa longwayin increasingaffordability of medicalcareforthemiddleincomeclassandthelowincomeearners. TheAffordable careAct accordsmillions of lowincomeandmiddleincomeAmericans accessandqualitymedicalcareby offeringdiscounts via theHealth Insurance Exchange.

Additionally,theplanensuresthatthemedicalcarecoverage is availableforallAmericans, especiallythosethat cannot accessqualitymedicalcare coverage through their employers.Mostimportantly thehealthcare of theAmerican citizensis nolonger in thehandson Insurance firms. TheObama healthcarelawaimsto reformthehealthcare industryby substantiallyloweringthe wastageof resources,fixingwhatdoesnot work,reallocating governmentfunding andmostimportantly ensuringqualityhealthcare forallAmericans. Nonetheless,theabsenceof personalmandateforadultsin theprogrammeansthatObamacare may not achieveuniversalcoverage.
